After failing to qualify for the World Cup four years ago, the USA men’s national team (USMNT) are back, having qualified for this year’s tournament in Qatar.
For the September international break, the USMNT are looking forward to a pair of friendlies against Japan and Saudi Arabia, with both games scheduled to take place in Europe, making travel easier for European-based players.
European teams were not available for friendlies in September as they must fulfill UEFA Nations League fixtures during this international break. There is no international window scheduled for October as domestic leagues look to work through fixtures before the 2022 World Cup this winter.
The United States were drawn into World Cup Group B, alongside England, Iran, and Wales. The USA will play Wales first on the first day of the World Cup. The game against England is second and Gregg Berhalter’s side will complete the group with a game against Iran.
