Irish News photographer awarded two prizes in 2022 International Photography Awards – The Irish News

Irish News photographer Mal McCann has been honoured twice in the 2022 International Photography Awards.
Mal won a third place prize and also an honourable mention in the smartphone category.
International Photography Awards salute the achievements of the world’s finest photographers, discover new and emerging talent, and promote the appreciation of photography.
Mal entered two images – Shadow Play and Spread The Word.
As a result of being a third place winner, Shadow Play will be considered by the IPA's guest curator for inclusion in the annual IPA Best of Show Curated Exhibition in New York.
In addition, Spread The Word could be featured in the IPA Annual Book of Photography.
Speaking about the awards, Mal said: "I was privileged to receive a third place and an honourable mention in the International Photo Awards, one of the top prestigious global photography competitions.
"I entered it last year for the first time and received a second place and a judges top five selection," he said.

"The photographs I submitted were taken with my iPhone and entered into the special smartphone photography category. You really are up against some of the best photographers in the world so it makes it all the more special to receive commendations like this".
