Canada advanced to the semifinals thanks to a 3-0 victory over Sweden on Thursday in the quarterfinals. The Canadians won despite the efforts of Swedish goaltender Emma Soderberg, who was peppered with 57 shots. Sarah Potomak, Jocelyne Laroque and Erin Ambrose scored Canada’s goals.
In contrast, Canada’s Ann-Renee Desbiens needed to make just nine saves in net.

Switzerland advanced to the semifinals thanks to a shootout win over Japan two days ago. Swiss goalie Andrea Braendli did not allow a puck to get by her in the shootout. Sinja Leeman scored the lone goal in the shootout.
The winner of this semifinal will face the winner of USA vs. Czechia for gold on Sunday. The loser will play in the bronze-medal game.
